We support migrant children, young people and families.
We provide support for migrant children, young people and families in England who for whatever reason, things are hard because of your immigration status. You might need support because of many things like:
- Not having enough money for your basic needs, not having suitable housing or being destitute or street homeless.
- Difficulties accessing your rights and what you are entitled to.
- Difficulties accessing services like schools and support for your children.
- Family problems.
- Settling into the UK as an asylum seeker or refugee.
- Struggling to find the right help, advice and support for your children or your family.
We support all migrant children, young people and families who for whatever reason need support.
We have workers and volunteers in different places and work across England.
Please note that we do not provide immigration advice. However, as part of contacting us for support, we may support you to find an immigration adviser.
Who we are
We are a charity made up of child and family professionals, including social workers, youth workers and other types of workers who work with families. We specialise in working with migrant families who may need support. We understand that it can be hard to get support for many families who are subject to immigration control or have immigration restrictions such as 'No Recourse to Public Funds'.
what we do
We provide very flexible support to children and families. This can include helping you approach services or talking to them for you, working with your family when things are difficult or helping you by introducing you to other services. Sometimes we work with parents and help them to manage things such as challenging behaviour, or to help you with safety.
We also work with lots of other non-profit and other organisations, such as solicitors and other charities, to provide specialist support. The way we work is different each time, because we work to look at what you need as a family.
Sometimes we complete an assessment of your family when another organisation things one might be helpful. This is all about telling your family's story, to help others understand what is happening for you.
what happens when you contact us
We will have a chat with you to find out what you need support with. We may ask you some questions so we can find out what you need.
When we have the information we need we might:
- Offer your family some support from one of our workers or volunteers.
- Give you the details for another organisation that may be better to meet your needs.
- Give you some advice.
If you were referred to us, you will be given a person who will be your main contact. They will keep in touch regularly by phone and come and visit you at your home, or at one of our outreach sessions.
