The impact of parental detention on children

Our co-director Nick has written for the #Unlocked17 campaign by the detention forum on the impact of parental detention for immigration purposes on children whose families are disrupted as a result.

The blog explores the potential impact of immigration detention, as well as some thoughts and suggestions on supporting children and families through separation.

Our previous position statement in response to the Panorama documentary aired earlier this year highlights our view of the need for radical reform of immigration policy, specifically with regards to detention. This reform, we firmly believe, needs to start with a time limit on immigration detention and fundamental reform on how decisions to detain are made.
